Wulfenite
PbMoO4
Wulfenite is an oxide mineral of lead and molybdenum. It has the composition PbMoO4 . This sample is from the Glove Mine, Santa Cruz County, Arizona . The sample measures about 25 cm across. This platelike-crystal arrangement is common for wulfenite. These samples are on display in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
This wulfenite sample is about 8 cm wide and is from San Carlos mine, Chihuahua, Mexico. The 8.7 carat gem is from Los Lamentos, Chihuahua, Mexico and is to the same scale.

This sample is about 30 cm long and is from the San Francisco mine, Sonora, Mexico. It is described as wulfenite with mimetite. Butterscotch-colored wulfenite crystals are sprinkled with orange mimetite crystals. Small amounts of chromium impurity color wulfenite crystals shades of yellow, orange and red.
| This wulfenite sample is about 15x23 cm and is from Los Lamentos, Chihuahua, Mexico. These wulfenite crystals offer a strong contrast to the plate-like crystals above.
