Sulfohalite (Sulphohalite)


These samples of sulfohalite are displayed in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Sulfohalite is a sulfate mineral which contains fluorine and chlorine. It has the composition Na6(SO4)2ClF. This sample is about 3x3 cm long is from Kalahari Desert, Cape Province, South Africa.

The smaller sample has dimension about 0.8 cm.
