Spring Flowers

The violets are some of the first wildflowers to emerge. They show up all over the yard until we start cutting the grass. There are several varieties within a block of the house. This variety was in the back yard on March 24.

This is the variety of what we hear called the Confederate violet that grows in our yard. Below is the somewhat more colorful version that grows in the yard of 1531 Moody Lane. March 26.
I snuck in a couple of domesticated flowers from Marty's yard to show the pervasiveness of the yellow pine pollen this year. You can see it dusted on the dark part of the blooms above. I couldn't resist including a couple of shots of the dramatic jonquils that gave such a cheerful touch to the yard.
