This joaquinite sample is a silicate which contains barium and titanium but it has the additional distinction of containing the element cerium. Its composition is NaBa2FeTi2Ce2(SiO3)8O2(OH) .H2O. The sample size is about 6x3.5 cm and it is from San Benito County, California. The joaquinite is the small orange crystals. All these samples are on display at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. |
