Jimmy, Dorothy and infant Shirley on the beach. Shirley was born in California on October 5, 1949. Dorothy and Jimmy had moved to Jacksonville, Fla for a job. He had joined the Reserves for a bit of income and was promptly recalled into service. They then headed to California where he was stationed.
