August 24: Rocky Mountain National Park

We drove through Estes Park, Colorado and up into the upper reaches of Rocky Mountain National Park. We went to over 12,000 ft, the highest road in the continental US. You could tell you were at a high altitude - short walks left you puffing. The vegetation was tundra like and we got to see a couple of picas in the rocks.

The displays on the continental divide were interesting. We did a somewhat liesurely tour of the area and then settled in a high altitude campground in Empire, Colorado.
