Awana Celebration

We had our annual Awana Celebration on May 14 with the Awana Store afterward with prizes for achievement in Bible Study. |

After the welcome, Awana Aliza led us in the pledges to the American and Awana flags and the Bible, the way we start all our Awana meetings. She is shown here with Becky Ridgway and Pastor Doug Thompson. Leigh Ridgway produced a slide show of Awana meetings and events on the screens.
Since our Awana Program is ongoing with the students making advancements, we started with current recognitions for Bible learning and reciting. The red vests are for the younger Sparks Awanas and the green for the older Truth & Training Awanas. |  |
 | We started with the youngest Awanas, who are called Cubbies and are in preschool. There were awards for achievement and attendance. Their leader is Wanda Willey.

The next age division in Awanas is called Sparks and includes Kindergarten through the Second grade. The boys and girls receive certificates and other awards based on achievement.Billy Ridgway is one of the Awana leaders for the younger Sparks group. |  |

The last major group award was in recognition of faithfulness in attendance. This included all the ages of the Awanas. With 34 Awana meetings during the year, there were three Awanas who had missed only one! |  |

After this Celebration program, the Awana children were directed to the "Store" of prizes they could claim based on the points they had accumulated during the entire year with their faithful study and reciting of Bible verses. There were many nice gifts and the children are always very excited about this event in the Awana program.
