My understanding is that Darla began experimenting with a game camera on the property during the summer of 2025 and was able to capture some animal images of wildlife both in the day and in the night.
This is part of an image dated August 14, 2025. My first impression was that this looked like an ocelot that I had seen on a TV program. It doesn't look like a bobcat, but most references say that there are no longer any ocelots in Louisiana. So it is still somewhat a mystery cat.
Googling gives the following comments:
There were once hundreds of thousands of ocelots all across Louisiana, Arizona, Arkansas and Texas, but now they are nearly entirely extinct in the United States. In the U.S., the endangered ocelot is now only found in southern Texas. Ocelot numbers are higher in Mexico, Central America, and south into northern Argentina.
But there are web images of ocelots that look like this Louisiana image.
