Thanksgiving Day
November 28, 2024
Thanksgiving day had finally arrived, and with the arrival of Elyse last night, we have our dinner celebration group.
| Though last to arrive, Elyse was one of the first to engage in the Thanksgiving dinner preparation. She prepared a delicious key lime pie. Jeff is in the background with eggs prepared in their high pressure cooker. |
Elyse did take a bit of time off for some breakfast with Jordan and Luke. They had picked her up at the busy Atlanta airport last night.
| Uncle Mark arrived at about 11 and was welcomed by Jordan and Elyse. Elyse had texted him to encourage him to bring along Punkin. |
Elyse, Darla and Jordan are working full force in the kitchen by noon. Inset are the fancy deviled eggs that Jeff has made with eggs cooked in the pressure pot. Jeff has picked up the turkey from Marty's.
| Preparation of snack trays, dressing, vegetables. Busy preparation of all the elements of the dinner. |
Jeff had managed the cooking of the turkey and now took on the task of carving the turkey. It brought Ashleigh to mind since she had carved it last Thanksgiving.
| Jeff prepares the turkey platter while Elyse, Jordan, and Darla do other finishing touches for the meal. |
Jordan has put out the turkey plates and folded the fancy napkins. Looks like it's about ready!
All is ready for Thanksgiving dinner! Granddad Rod asks the blessing and we relax to enjoy the meal and the conversation. Grandmother Brenda, Jeff, Darla, Mark, Elyse, Jordan and Luke.
Oops! We left one out. Punkin approaches Luke for a snack?
We had to have the family picture by the fireplace.
Elyse set up her iPhone for a timed photo to get us all. Leave it to the youngest to exercise the technology. OK, let's name everyone: Elyse, Mark, Brenda, Rod, Jeff, Darla, Jordan, Luke.

They had a bit of football play, and Luke had the best catches.
| The evening relaxation was usually some kind of game. |
An evening of relaxation brought us to the end of a very enjoyable Thanksgiving day and we felt very blessed by the family time.

We treasured a bit more fellowship with the family on the day when they all departed for home. Jeff, Darla, Jordan and Elyse had made it a practice to have a walk in the neighborhood before breakfast.
Brenda and Rod got to hang around and visit as Jeff, Darla and Elyse had breakfast.
| We hung around to enjoy the conversation as Jordan joined the breakfast. |
Luke joined the breakfast group and we enjoyed continuing the family conversation and reflection on the visit.
The packing up proceeded and we gathered in a circle for our farewell family prayer led by Rod, and then said goodbye to Luke and Jordan as the first to depart. We had a little more visiting time with Jeff and Darla as they packed up and then we said goodbye to them. Elyse had an afternoon flight back to Baton Rouge, so Mark came out and we got to visit with them until mid afternoon. Mark then took Elyse to the Atlanta Airport.
We praised the Lord for the treasured family time and look forward to the next time we can be together.
